About GAMSU

Why GAMSU

Makerere University aspires to provide innovative teaching, learning, research, and services responsive to national and global needs. Makerere is a premier institution of higher learning in Uganda with a vision of becoming the leading institution of academic excellence and innovations in Africa . Until the 1990s, the University was largely dependent on funding from the Government of Uganda. This status changed gradually with the University diversifying its funding sources to include tuition fees, gifts, investments, grants, and contract awards from various agencies. In its strategic plan for the period 2020-2030, the University set out to reposition itself as a research-led institution to deliver a highly productive workforce. This requires, among others, a robust grants administration and management system to support implementation of the Universities activities.
