At the Grants Administration and Management Support Unit (GAMSU), we offer professional, end-to-end support across the entire grant lifecycle. Our services are designed to empower researchers, streamline processes, and promote compliance and excellence in grant-funded research.

  • Mapping and curating available funding sources from local and international donors.
  • Maintaining a centralized grants database.
  • Disseminating timely funding calls, alerts, and opportunities to academic and administrative staff.

We strengthen research networks and promote interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration by:

  • Facilitating linkages between researchers within Makerere University and with external partners.
  • Supporting collaborations with national, regional, and global research institutions.
  • Advising on partnership arrangements and letters of intent.

We increase proposal competitiveness and ensure submission readiness by:

  • Supporting proposal writing, technical reviews, and narrative development.
  • Providing guidance on budgeting and costing of grant activities.
  • Assisting with application packaging, documentation, and formatting.
  • Supporting registration on funder portals and navigating submission processes.

We ensure smooth transition from award notification to project kick-off by:

  • Guiding Principal Investigators through the negotiation of grant conditions.
  • Coordinating internal approvals and the signing of grant agreements by authorized university representatives.
  • Ensuring proper documentation and institutional record keeping.
